How to reset the service exceeded counter on a PRIMUS sterilizer
Posted by Joey Leffel on Jun 13th 2023
When a counter has reached a limit set by the technician, a “SERVICE COUNTER EXCEEDED” message will appear on the screen. This message is a low priority message and will only appear in IDLE after other messages are cleared. It does not prevent the sterilizer from operating normally.
The Primus sterilizer control platforms since 2018 have a feature that will count the on/off cycling of outputs for the primary functions of the sterilizer. These counters may help with monitoring mechanical wear and preventive maintenance scheduling. Each time a function is activated, the counter will increment by 1.
The list below is the default set of counters:
•CYCLES
•JACKET STEAM VALVE
•CHAMBER STEAM VALVE
•CHAMBER DRAIN VALVE
•AIR IN VALVE
Service Counter Limits
A user with technician level security can access the service counter settings in the /MORE/SYSTEM/SERVICE/COUNTERS screen. The default counter limits set by Primus are strictly arbitrary. After time, the technician can set the limits to best meet the maintenance scheduling for the sterilizer.

Resetting counters
The technician can reset one or all of the counters to 0 in the MORE/SYSTEM/SERVICE/COUNTERS screen and clear the message.
